Beaver County Community-Based Outpatient Clinic
The Beaver County Community-Based Outpatient Clinic or CBOC is a satellite clinic that operates under the umbrella of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Community-Based Outpatient Clinics such as this one provide veterans with convenient, accessible primary health care. The Beaver County Clinic is one of five such clinics operated by the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System which allow veterans services such as wellness exams and prescription refills without the difficulties sometimes associated with traveling longer distances to larger facilities. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is a comprehensive healthcare system serving veterans in the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System consists of three divisions: a major medical and surgical tertiary care facility, a behavioral health facility, and a community living center and veterans recovery center. Together these three campuses comprise a total of 487 operational beds. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is a part of the VA’s VISN 4, which is an integrated system consisting of ten VA Medical Centers throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio.
The Beaver County CBOC is a primary care outpatient clinic that offers veterans general medical care, physical exams, and laboratory, radiology, dietary, and podiatry services. When veterans require inpatient or other specialty services not available at the Beaver County CBOC referrals can be made to larger facilities within the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. The three campuses within the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System are the University Drive Campus, the Highland Drive Campus, and the H.J. Heinz Campus. The list of services and programs available at these various locations is extensive allowing veterans a wealth of medical care. The University Drive Campus has concentrations in medicine, surgery, neurology, and critical care. Highland Drive is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine, Dental medicine, and other allied health programs. The facility also operates a complete adult day care health center. Finally, the H.J. Heinz Campus houses a 262-bed community living center that offers audiology, speech pathology, dental, and primary care outpatient services.
