Lary A. Robinson, MD, is a senior member of the faculty at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute located in Tampa, Florida. His official title is Director of the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery within the Thoracic Oncology Department.
Education and Training
Dr. Robinson received his medical doctorate from the Washington University School of medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1972. From there he went on to fulfill an internship at the prestigious Duke University in the area of general and thoracic surgery in 1974. In 1976, Dr. Robinson served the United States Air Force as a Flight Surgeon before returning to Duke University to complete his residency and various fellowships, including:

Cardiac Surgery Fellowship, Duke university Medical Center, 1983 – Cardiac Surgery
Along with his time at Duke University, Dr. Robinson also completed a fellowship for cardiology at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London in 1982. Currently, Dr. Robinson is Board Certified in both Thoracic Surgery and Surgery/Surgical Critical Care.
The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute is associated with The University of South Florida, also located in Tampa. This union between the University and medical facilities allow professionals such as Dr. Robinson to not only provide medical care, but to act as professors and educators permitting students access to both academic and hospital settings. Dr. Robinson’s affilations with USF include the Department of Medicine–Oncologic Sciences and the Department of Medicine–Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Research and Publications
Dr. Robinson has a specific clinical research interest in the aggressive surgical management of mesothelioma, as well as advanced lung cancer.
