Naval Station Great Lakes, USS Tranquility Clinic
The USS Tranquility is one of three branch medical clinics of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Center. Located on the grounds of the Great Lakes Naval Station in Building 1007, the clinic provides health services to U.S. Navy members and recruits in conjunction with the Lovell FHCC. Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Center
Lovell FHCC, based in North Chicago, was established October 1, 2010. The medical center is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. The partnership allows full integration of all medical care into a single federal health facility, with a combined mission to treat all veterans and current active personnel. With a combination of services and resources from the North Chicago VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes (NHCGL), Lovell FHCC serves active military personnel, their families, military retirees, and veterans. The USS Tranquility clinic ensures that nearly 40,000 Navy recruits transitioning through the Great Lakes Naval Station are medically ready.
The main facility is located in North Chicago, Illinois, where Lovell FHCC provides a full spectrum of health care. In addition to 1077 Tranquility, other medical clinics at the Great Lakes Naval Station are 2017 Osborne, 1523 Red Rover, and 237 Fisher Clinic. Lovell FHCC also operates community-based outpatient clinics in Evanston and McHenry, Illinois, and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Services
Services available through Lovell FHCC include primary care and family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and emergency room facilities. General surgery is performed at the facility, in addition to podiatry, ophthalmology, dermatology, urology, gynecology, ENT, and orthopedics. A wide range of specialists are available in fields such as neurology, audiology, cardiology, gastroenterology, respiratory therapy, radiology, laboratory, women’s health, and many others.
A variety of mental health services include treatment for substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, homeless domiciliary care, and acute and long-term residential care. Geriatric services are also available, including long-term care, hospice care, home-based care, and a community living center, among others. Lovell FHCC provides a variety of health education programs focusing on diverse topics such as nutrition, diabetes, preventive maintenance, physical therapy, weight management, and smoking cessation.
