Philadelphia MultiService Center

The Philadelphia MultiService Center, a facility out of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania is a Veterans Administration satellite clinic operating under the umbrella of the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Clinics such as the Philadelphia MultiService Center offer veterans convenient access to primary medical services within their community without the added stress of traveling longer distances to larger facilities. These smaller clinics are part of the VA’s dedication to providing veterans with the health care services they deserve.

The Philadelphia MultiService Center’s parent facility is the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, which provides health care services to veterans within Philadelphia, as well as six surrounding counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. The medical center is a part of the VA’s VISN 4 network, and integrated system of health care for veterans. This facility is staffed by more than 2,000 employees and supports 145-acute care beds and a 135-bed nursing home known as the Philadelphia Veterans Community Living Center. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center also oversees four community-based outpatient clinics as part of their comprehensive health care system. In 2009, the Philadelphia VA Medical Center served almost 60,000 veterans with an operating budget of $380 million dollars.

The Philadelphia VA Medical Center has three areas of concentration, all of which are made possible through the support of satellite clinics such as the Philadelphia MultiService Center. These areas include: providing health care, conducting medical research, and being prepared to serve in the event of an emergency or crisis. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and numerous other allied health schools and colleges as part of their mission to train health care professionals of the future. Veterans are referred to this larger Facility when their needs rise above the scope of services provided at the Philadelphia MultiService Center.
