Polarity Therapy

Polarity therapy is based on the premise that health and well-being are determined by the body’s natural flow of energy, or qi. Practitioners use movement, touch, and other techniques to balance the negative and positive charges of the body’s electromagnetic field. Polarity therapy claims to promote health by restoring the flow of vital energy disrupted by fatigue, illness, stress, trauma, or unhealthy habits. This therapy is recommended to promote relaxation and flexibility, relieve tension, increase energy, reduce inflammation, and improve immunity.

The Procedure

The first polarity therapy session begins with a survey of health and lifestyle issues. While the patient is on a table, the therapist uses various techniques to clear and balance the energy field. Other facets of polarity therapy may include deep-breathing exercises, diet changes, supportive counseling, and hydrotherapy stretching, and yoga.

Benefits of Polarity Therapy

There is no scientific evidence that polarity therapy is effective in treating cancer or any other disease. However, it is sometime prescribed by medical professionals as a form of relaxation. While there is no solid evidence to support it's effects, patients often report feeling less tense and more relaxed after polarity therapy. Some physicians encourage energy work for general well-being, and others attribute the benefit to the prolonged physical contact that takes place during hands-on therapy. When administered by a trained professional, polarity therapy usually has no known side effects. However, people with cancer or chronic conditions - such as arthritis and heart disease - should seek medical advice before any type of treatment that involves manipulation of muscles and joints.

Mesothelioma and Polarity Therapy

Advocates of alternative methods like polarity therapy note its ability to ease pain and other symptoms of cancer. Along with medical treatments, those patients diagnosed with mesothelioma could likely utilize therapies such as this one.  In the case of mesothelioma, having a latency period of 20 to 50 years can often mean that once an individual is diagnosed, symptoms will be strong and the pain, unbearable at times. Symptom relief with alternative practices such as polarity therapy might make an individual with mesothelioma more comfortable and even if for a short period of time, relieve pain. Reference:
