Michael A. Marzano VA Outpatient Clinic

Located in Mercer County, the Michael A. Marzano VA Outpatient Clinic provides primary health care services for local veterans. The outpatient clinic operates under the umbrella of the VA Butler Healthcare System, which is part of the Veterans Administration’s larger VISN 4 Network. Through this comprehensive healthcare system veterans have access to locations that are convenient and easy to travel to.

The VA Butler Healthcare System was founded in 1937 as a Tuberculosis Sanitarium, evolving into a soldier’s hospital in 1942 and eventually purchased by the Veterans Administration in April 1946. The VA Butler Healthcare System oversees five community-based outpatient clinics such as the Michael A. Marzano VA Outpatient Clinic in order to serve the medical needs of local veterans.

The Michael A. Marzano VA Outpatient Clinic provides veterans with primary care, physical exams, weight management, smoking cessation counseling, routine laboratory and physical therapy. They also provide outpatient behavioral health services including individual therapy and medication management. The clinic is able to provide referrals to a psychiatrist in Butler offered through secure videoconferencing at the clinic.

Veterans requiring services outside the scope of the outpatient clinic can receive referrals to any of the locations within the VA Butler Healthcare System, including the main facility which serves over 18,000 veterans in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. VA Butler Healthcare provides primary care, behavioral health, specialized extended care, physical rehabilitation medicine, and residential substance abuse training. This facility includes 60 nursing home care beds (which are also referred to as their Community Living Center), 56 domiciliary beds, and 10 compensated work therapy beds. The center’s outpatient programs generate approximately 125,000 visits per year.
