The McKean County Primary Care Clinic is a satellite facility operating as part of the Erie VA Medical Clinic. Satellite clinics such as the McKean County location allow veterans to have access to pharmacy services, and other basic health care needs without needing to travel long distances to larger clinics and hospitals. Community clinics such as this one are part of the VA’s outreach program, attempting to deliver reliable healthcare to all veterans, regardless of their location.

Services

While not an emergency care facility, the McKean County Primary Clinic does offer local veterans several health services, including:

  • Diabetes management
  • Patient-family health education
  • Patient-family health education
  • Patient assessment
  • Care planning
  • Nursing services
  • Phlebotomy
Behavioral health services are also available on-site including intake, all varieties of counseling, as well as medication management. These services are available live or via video teleconferencing. Should a patient require services not available at one of the local clinics a referral can be made to the larger Erie VA Medical Center. At the Erie VAMC a wealth of patient services are available including 78 authorized beds, numerous specialty programs, and educational affiliations with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Lake Erie College of Pharmacy. These educational affiliations offer students residencies and internships in hospital settings, as well as allowing the medical center itself to remain current on technologies and methods for research and treatment.
