The Taussig Cancer Institute is dedicated to providing world-class care to cancer patients. It is at the forefront of new and innovative clinical, translational and basic cancer research. Mesothelioma is one of the diseases treated at the Institute. Those diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma can expect a comprehensive, coordinated, multidisciplinary care at the Institute. The Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute’s physicians collaborate on diagnosing stages and mesothelioma treatment among a team of specialists including thoracic surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pulmonologists, and radiologists. The staff’s involvement in multi-center investigational trials gives patients and their families, no matter their stage of mesothelioma, the opportunity to join in lung cancer treatment protocols including surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy or biologic response modifiers.
Cleveland Clinic strives to pursue a mission of unlocking basic science and pursuing clinical research. Among many other research efforts, the Cleveland Clinic’s research includes searches for genes that cause heart disease, use of stem cell to fix problematic bone damage and use of special implants to manage neurologic disorders. Cleveland Clinic is running more than 2,000 clinical trials at any time. These trials vary in type, but all work toward the same goal of discovery and knowledge in the medical field.

A level 1 accredited facility, Cleveland Clinic is recognized by many independent organizations around the world. These awards range from quality patient care to medical training. Cleveland Clinic Florida was one of 65 hospitals chosen from a field of nearly 1,200 hospitals nationwide. It was also ranked #17 in Gastroenterology and #40 in Diabetes/Endocrinology by U.S. News & World Report 2009-2010. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic is deemed a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of radiology, a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the Bariatric & Metabolic Institute Society for Bariatric Surgery and a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center, a three year approval by the American College of Surgeons.
