The Allentown Outpatient Clinic operates under the umbrella of the Wilkes—Barre VA Medical Center located in Wilkes—Barre, Pennsylvania. The Allentown Clinic was established in September 1979 and provides outpatient care for eligible veterans in an eight-county area of Pennsylvania, as well as Hunterdon and Warren, New Jersey. For those veterans in need of transportation assistance the Allentown Clinic offers VA and DAV patient transportation. For patients requiring services not available at the Allentown Clinic, referrals can be made to any of the appropriate facilities operating as part of the Wilkes—Barre VA Medical Center. The Wilkes—Barre VA Medical Center has been providing medical attention for veterans for more than 50 years, providing extensive inpatient, outpatient, and home care services. Outpatient clinics such as the Allentown location allow veterans access to general health examinations, prescriptions, and immunizations within their community, eliminating the need to travel longer distances to the main facility.
