Currently serving as the Assistant Professor of Therapeutic Radiology for the Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Roy H. Decker is renowned in his field. Dr. Decker also serves as an affiliate physician at the Yale New Haven Shoreline Medical Center and the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital Community Center. One of his major interests lies in the use of novel therapies for mesothelioma and other cancers.

Dr. Decker began his education at the University of Virginia where he received his bachelor’s degree. He then went on to get a medical degree and a PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University shortly after. Following the start to his education, Dr. Decker finished an internship at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital and then went on to complete a therapeutic radiology residency from Yale New Haven Hospital.

With a variety of clinical interests, Dr. Decker tends to focus on areas such as prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, as well as lung cancer. He has taken a major interest in the development of multi-modal therapies aimed at cutting edge treatment for a multitude of different types of cancer, including mesothelioma. Dr. Decker has also taken a great interest in new forms of radio therapy that are setup to plant radioactive seeds into direct tumors.

Throughout his still youthful career, Dr. Decker has also joined in a number of prestigious organizations. He is included in membership for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology. 2007 was a good year for Dr. Decker as he was awarded the Travel Award from the National Radium Society and a Fellow Research Award from the Radiological Society of North America.

Although Dr. Decker is considered a younger doctor in the field, he is still heavily respected. He has been fortunate enough to have over 50 peer reviewed articles and essays in a number of publications including the “Journal of Clinical Oncology,” the “Journal of Investigative Dermatology,” and the “American Journal of Clinical Pathology,” among others.
